George Whittaker leads Bechtel’s low-carbon business. This comprises projects in the carbon capture, hydrogen, and sustainable fuels space. The projects range from early phase studies to those in the advanced stages of execution, and with a variety of available technologies. Responsible for delivering Bechtel’s portfolio in the low-carbon area, George focuses on relationships with existing and new customers, as well as on governmental policy and regulatory frameworks in target markets.

Previously, he spearheaded Bechtel’s early phase energy transition work and developed Bechtel’s strategy in this area.

George is a chartered engineer with more than 20 years of experience within the oil and gas industry. He joined Bechtel in 2004 as a process engineer and has subsequently held positions in engineering, commissioning, project management and business development, including previous postings in Italy, Kazakhstan, Thailand, the UAE, UK and USA.

He has a master's degree in chemical engineering from Imperial College London and an MBA degree from the University of Oxford.
